Woven by Hand. Crafted for Generations.
The SR-TAKAT Pashmina Silk-on-Silk Handmade Carpet is a timeless masterpiece that embodies centuries of Kashmiri craftsmanship, artistry, and heritage. Every carpet is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques that have been preserved and perfected through generations.
Premium Silk-on-Silk Construction
This exceptional carpet is crafted entirely from 100% pure silk. Both the foundation (base) and every individual knot are woven using silk threads, representing the highest standard of Kashmiri carpet making. The result is an extraordinary combination of luxurious texture, intricate detailing, brilliant sheen, and lasting beauty.
A True Handmade Masterpiece
Every stage of the creation process is completed entirely by hand—from dyeing the silk to tying every individual knot. No machines or power looms are used at any point, ensuring each carpet remains an authentic work of traditional Kashmiri craftsmanship.
Exceptional Knot Density
The quality of a Kashmiri handmade carpet is defined by its Knots Per Square Inch (KPSI), which determines the level of detail, durability, and overall craftsmanship.
- Average Quality: 484 KPSI
- Standard Luxury Quality: 576 KPSI
- Exceptional Masterpieces: Up to 900 KPSI (Extremely Rare)
A higher knot density allows artisans to create remarkably intricate patterns, sharper detailing, and exceptional durability that can last for centuries.
A Heritage Woven Through Time
The art of carpet weaving travelled to Kashmir from Turkey and Persia through the historic Silk Route before reaching China. Many traditional motifs still carry the names of ancient cities from these regions, while every pattern represents its own symbolic meaning and cultural heritage.
Whether inspired by classic oriental motifs, contemporary aesthetics, or bespoke artistic creations, every SR-TAKAT carpet tells its own unique story through carefully balanced colours and intricate designs selected by master artisans.
An Heirloom for Future Generations
Designed to last for centuries, a Kashmiri handmade carpet is more than a luxurious furnishing—it becomes a treasured family heirloom. Passed down through generations, it carries with it stories, memories, and an enduring legacy of exceptional craftsmanship.
The remarkable longevity of this art form is reflected by one of history's oldest and largest surviving carpets, preserved today at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Care & Maintenance
Despite its luxurious appearance, the SR-TAKAT Pashmina Silk-on-Silk Handmade Carpet is washable and can be maintained using traditional natural cleaning methods. With proper care, its elegance, softness, and vibrant colours can be preserved for generations.
